I reported on Veeam's plans for Proxmox support in its backup solution in May 2024 in the article Veeam gets Proxmox support (soon) – Presentation in June 2024. Blog reader Dennis has now informed me by e-mail that Veeam Backup & Replication version 12.2 is now ready (thanks for the hint).

In the release notes (PDF) Veeam Backup & Replication 12.2 has now confirmed that the product now supports "Proxmox VE Infrastructure". This applies to Proxmox VE version 8.2 or higher, whereby both standalone and clustered Proxmox VE configurations are supported (all cluster nodes must be registered with Veeam).

According to Veeam, both enterprise and no-subscription repositories are supported. However, support for the no-subscription subscription repository is still experimental.

Regarding the supported Proxmox VE virtual machines, it is stated that all types and versions of virtual hardware are supported, with the exception of Open vSwitch networks. Veeam Backup & Replication 12.2 can back up and restore VMs located on Proxmox VE storage of any type. Exceptions are BTRFS formatted disks and custom storage types.

All operating systems supported by the Proxmox VE version in use can be backed up with Veeam Backup & Replication 12.2.
File-level recovery is supported for the following file systems, including Microsoft Windows Logical Disk Manager (LDM) dynamic disks and Linux Logical Volume Manager (LVM) dynamic disks.
