[German]A few days ago, I read about the fear that Microsoft would release the Cumulative Update (CU) 15 for Exchange Server 2019 shortly before the holidays in order to be able to hold 2024 for the release. Microsoft has now announced that the CU15 for Microsoft Exchange Server 2019 will not be released until January 2025. Administrators will therefore have until after the turn of the year to focus on the CU.

Two CUs per year are actually standard
Since the beginning of 2020, Microsoft has been trying to release two cumulative updates per year for Microsoft Exchange Server versions that are still in support. These updates are traded as H1 for the first half of the year (preferably in March) and H2 for the second half of the year (preferably in September) (see also here).
Exchange Server 2019 CU15 is still pending
The cumulative updates (CUs) CU 14 and CU 15 for Exchange Server 2019 were actually announced for 2023. But the release was postponed by Microsoft to 2024, as I reported at the end of November 2023 in the blog post Exchange Server 2019: No more CUs in 2023; CU14 and CU15 coming in 2024.
Microsoft released the cumulative (feature) update CU 2024 H1 for Exchange Server 2019 on February 13, 2024 (see Exchange Server Cumulative Update CU 14 (February 13, 2024)). This update (CU 14) contains fixes for issues reported by customers, a security change and all previously released security updates (SUs).
CU 2024 H2 for Exchange Server 2019 was then planned for the second half of 2024. However, this cumulative update has not yet been released by Microsoft, which is why some administrators were expecting the rollout on December 10, 2024. This would have meant that any problems that occurred over the Christmas holidays could not be resolved.
Microsoft postpones CU15 to January 2025
A few hours ago, I came across the following tweet on X, which announces the postponement of the CU15 release to January 2025.

Microsoft has published the details in the Techcommunity post Updates on Servicing Exchange Server 2019. Contrary to the roadmap for Exchange Server 2019, which envisaged a CU H2 2024 aka CU15 for the end of 2024, the release will no longer come this year. Instead, Microsoft is officially announcing that the final CU 15 for Exchange Server 2019 will be CU H1 2025 and will be released in early January 2025.
In the meantime, Microsoft recommends that all customers update to version v2 of the SU from November 2024 (see Exchange 2016/2019: Nov. 2024 SU v2 also with bug) and perform the manual workaround for the known time zone problem. Administrators should then download and run the latest version of the Exchange Server HealthChecker to verify that there are no issues.
