[German]A quick update for users of Microsoft's Outlook Lite app. Redmond has just announced that the app will be discontinued. It will be shut down on October 6, 2025.
Microsoft announced this information on September 5, 2025, in the Microsoft 365 Message Center in post MC1148534 – Retirement of Outlook Lite app.
The Outlook Lite app will be discontinued on October 6, 2025. After this date, new installations will be blocked. Existing users will be able to continue using the app for a limited period until it is completely discontinued "in a few months."
Neowin.net writes here that Microsoft has introduced the Outlook Lite app in July 2022. By the end of November 2023, the app had been downloaded over five million times, and by August 2024, that number had doubled. In this German Dr. Windows post, I read yesterday that Martin Geuß was skeptical from the start that the app would survive for long.
Microsoft writes that the Outlook Lite app is being discontinued so that it can focus its investments on the Outlook Mobile app for Android.
