[German]Brief information for users who may have used the free option of Microsoft's Power Automate for their own purposes. I have just noticed that Microsoft is no longer providing this automation solution for private users. Anyone who still has flows and data stored there will have to back them up in July 2025 or switch to alternative solutions. Here is a brief summary of the situation.
Microsoft Power Automate is a cloud-based software for automating recurring tasks. Together with Power Apps and Power BI, Power Automate is part of the Microsoft Power Platform product family. Using various data connectors, process automation can be created across systems, even for products outside the Microsoft ecosystem.
Microsoft advertises the interoperability with Microsoft 365 and writes "Automate in Excel, OneDrive or Teams" without switching applications and interrupting your workflow. There is this introduction to Power Automate from Microsoft.
No more Power Automate for home users
Microsoft has published the support article Deprecation of support for personal Microsoft service accounts in Power Automate and has announced the deprecation of support for personal Microsoft service accounts in Power Automate as of May 27, 2025 (via).
There will be a transition period for the support of personal Microsoft service accounts for Power Automate, which will end on July 26, 2025. Power Automate for desktop is not affected and can still be used with personal email accounts.
The abolition of personal accounts in Power Automate is justified with the improvement of security and the adaptation of the platform to professional, corporate standards. This will apply after July 26, 2025 at the latest:
- Users cannot log in to the Power Automate portal or mobile app with personal email accounts, such as gmail.com or outlook.com.
- Users cannot create, edit or manage cloud flows in the portal or mobile app.
- Access to all cloud flows associated with Microsoft service accounts will be permanently removed and these cloud flows will be deleted.
For those affected who wish to continue using Power Automate, Microsoft recommends switching to the Power Apps Developer Plan.
