Office Patchday (July 5, 2017)

[German]Microsoft has released a couple of non security updates for Microsoft Office 2013 and Office 2016 on July 5, 2017. Here are a few details about that Office July 2017 patchday.

July 2017 patchday (1st Tuesday of a month) was a day delayed due to indepence day (July 4.) in the USA. All updates has been documented within this web site.

Office 2013

Update for Microsoft Word 2013 (KB3213567): This update improves some translations for the Dutch version of Word 2013.

Update for Skype for Business 2015 (KB3213574): Changes Skye for Business 2015 client to version 15.0.4945.1000.

Office 2016

Update for Microsoft Office 2016 (KB3213547): This update makes users join a meeting through a meeting link in a more reliable flow even if there's a DNS failure or high latency networks.

Update for Microsoft PowerPoint 2016 (KB3203481): Fixt the issue, that text style font properties cannot be retrieved correctly after a title placeholder is deleted on the slide master. The PowerPoint object model will now return the correct text style font properties of shapes on the slide master.

Update for Skype for Business 2016 (KB3213548): Change Skye for Business 2015 client to version 16.0.4561.1000.

Update for Microsoft Visio 2016 (KB3203473): Fixes a crash, during a live preview of shape styles in Visio 2016. Fixes the bug that Shape.BoundingBox method returns incorrect results.

Update for Microsoft Project 2016 (KB3203476): Fixes a couple of bugs.

  • Assume that you create a SharePoint Tasks List in Project Online. After you change the indent of the tasks in Project 2016 and synchronize the tasks with SharePoint, the indent setting isn't synchronized correctly.

  • If the task finish date is changed in the schedule web part, the actual work is spread unexpectedly.

  • After you replace a local resource with an enterprise resource, the actual work is transferred to the enterprise resource even though it's a protected work.

  • When you select a task in the Task Name column in Project 2016, Project 2016 crashes if the first column that's locked of the table is Task Name, and one or more tasks are indented.

  • After you import task, resource, and assignment information from an Excel worksheet in Project 2016, the work value is ignored.

  • When you open an XML file that has comma decimal characters for numeric values in Project 2016, the numeric values is lost because the numeric values are read incorrectly if Project 2016 uses dot decimal characters.

  • Cost precision is lost after you copy and paste a task in a project. For example, if the cost on the source task is $76.85, it will become $76.65 on the pasted task.

Update for Microsoft Office 2016 (KB3213549): Improves some translations for Danish version of Access and Excel and Finnish and Swedish version of Excel. The update improves also the reliability of joining Skype for Business meetings in environments by using high latency network connections and unreliable DNS behavior. And the update fixes the following issues:

    • When you save a file to a SharePoint library, the Managed Metadata column is disabled.

    • Assume that you synchronized a SharePoint team site, OneDrive, or OneDrive for Business folder to local. If you select a recent location that's synchronized in an Office 2016 application, the Open dialog box shows an incorrect folder location or file name.

Update for Microsoft Word 2016 (KB3213550): Improves some translations for the Dutch version of Word 2016. Fixes the issue, that after you paste mixed (right-to-left and left-to-right) text to a document in an Office 2016 application as a Word document object or an .emf file, the text is displayed as overlapping text or as having gaps between the words.

Update for Microsoft Access 2016 (KB3191926): Fixes an issue, where Access still runs, after you close a form or report.

Update for Microsoft OneNote 2016 (KB3178665): Fixes a bug, that you can't refresh a file printout that's inserted into a classroom notebook. This issue occurs after you install December 6, 2016, update for OneNote 2016 (KB3118294).

Update for Microsoft Office 2016 (KB3203471): Fixes a rendering bug, where Emojis are sometimes displayed as square boxes in Office 2016 applications in Windows 7. This issue occurs because Office 2016 applications request Emojis to be displayed in the Segoe UI Emoji font, and the font is missing in Windows 7. This update installs the Segoe UI Emoji font.

Update for Microsoft Office 2016 (KB3115145): This update improves typing performance for Korean text. Fixes a VBE bug in TextRange.Lines method reporting an error. 

Update for Microsoft Office 2016 (KB3191928): Fixes the issue, that when you open an Information Rights Management (IRM) protected file in SharePoint, the user name isn't displayed in the message details in the FileInUse dialog box.
