Security update KB3177725 for Security Bulletin MS16-098 (August 9, 2016) has caused serious trouble. Microsoft has added the following text to the update description:

Known issues

After you apply this security update and you print multiple documents in succession, the first two documents may print successfully. However, the third and subsequent documents may not print.

I've blogged about that incident in my post Printing issues with Microsoft Security Patch MS16-098. Printing more that 2 jobs doesn't works after installing KB3176492 (released August 9, 2016) in Windows 10 (RTM). Also many commercial software wasn't able to print multi page jobs.

Microsoft has already released a fix for Windows 10 RTM (Business SKUs), as I wrote at Update KB3186987 for Windows 10 fixes printing issue. Now Microsoft releases update KB3187022 for Windows 7 SP1 and Windows 8.1 to fix the printing issue – as I read here.

Print functionality is broken after any of the security updates that are described in Microsoft Security Bulletin MS16-098 are installed if a print application uses the same device context for multiple print jobs.

The update is only available via Microsoft Update Catalog – downloadable from Internet Explorer. The update is valid for the following SKUs:

  • Windows Server 2012 R2
  • Windows 8.1
  • Windows RT 8.1
  • Windows Server 2012
  • Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 (SP1)
  • Windows 7 SP1

A reboot is recommended after installing this update. Service Pack 1 for Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2 or April 2014 update rollup for Windows RT 8.1, Windows 8.1, and Windows Server 2012 R2 (2919355) is mandatory for update install.
