Firmware update for Surface 3

Microsoft has just released a firmware update for its Surface 3. The update for the device (announced over 3 years ago) is intended to improve system security and battery life..

Tero Alhonen  has posted a corresponding note on Twitter – the details can be read on Surface 3 update history.

The update is only available for devices with Windows 10 V1703 or higher and contains the following components:

  • Surface – Firmware – 1.51116.218.0: Surface UEFI – Firmware, Improves battery stability.
  • Surface – System – 2.1.655.0: Surface Platform Power Driver, Improves battery stability.
  • Marvell Semiconductor, Inc. -Bluetooth – 15.68.9125.57: Marvell AVASTAR Bluetooth Radio Adapter, Improves system security.
  • Marvell Semiconductor, Inc. -Net – 15.68.9125.57: Marvell AVASTAR Wireless-AC Network Controller, Improves system security.
