Blog reader Ralf pointed out the new release in this comment (thanks for that). I just started the update search in Thunderbird, and got the update offered. According to the release notes, the following bugs have been fixed:
- Crash when using "Send to > Mail recipient" on Windows under some circumstances (MAPI interface)
- UTF-8 support for MAPISendMail
- Problem with S/MIME certificate verification when receiving email from Outlook (issue introduced in version 60.5.1)
Not fixed are the known issues:
- Due to changes in the Mozilla platform profiles stored on Windows network shares addressed via drive letters are now addressed via UNC
- Chat: Twitter not working due to API changes at Twitter.com
The mail client can be downloaded from the Thunderbird site for Windows, macOS and Linux. Further details can be found in the Release Notes.
