Hotfix for SCCM V1810 fixes update install issues

Microsoft has released a hotfix for Configuration Manager, version 1810, that fixes installation problems during update installation. Here are a brief overview.

I became aware of this fact through a tweet of @PhantomofMobile. Apparently Microsoft reacted to a problem in SCCM V1803 and 1810.

The corresponding Microsoft KB article says about the issue, that 'Software update installations may stop responding or never return a completion status during task sequence execution or typical software updates management (SUM). This issue typically occurs when many updates are being installed, usually a mix of Office and Windows updates'.

This issue typically occurs when many updates are installed, typically a mix of Office and Windows updates. The Smsts.log file contains the entry:

Waiting for job status notification …

If you are affected by this error in Configuration Manager 1810, you can install Update Rollup 4486457 for the System Center Configuration Manager Current Branch, Version 1810, under Updates and Servicing. This updates the Configuration Manager client to version 5.00.8740.1031.
