Microsoft Office Patchday (June 2, 2020)

[German]On June 2, 2020 (first Tuesday of the month, Office Patchday), Microsoft released several non-security updates for versions of Microsoft Office that are still supported. The updates are also intended to fix an Outlook 2016 crash. They also address a VBA issue that prevents certain macros from loading in Office 2010/2013.

The updates apply to the installable MSI version of Office and are provided through Windows Update. Click-to-run packages receive updates through other channels. For this reason, Office 2019 no longer appears in the following list because only click-to-run installers are available there. Microsoft lists the updates on this page.

Office 2016

The packages are automatically distributed via Windows Update, but can also be manually downloaded and installed via the linked KB articles as download.

  • Update for Microsoft Office 2016 (KB4484171): This update fixes an issue, when you load a file that contains a graph where the axis contains both a display unit setting and a manual crosspoint. Then the crosspoint is multiplied by the display units at load time. This increases the CrossesAt-value each time it is loaded.

I had posts about this in the blog and the bug had already been patched via update.

  • Update for Microsoft Office 2016 (KB4484394): Fixes an issue that may cause an error when you use SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) to import data from Office applications into SQL Server. Also fixes a problem that can cause an error when you use Power BI to retrieve data from Microsoft Office applications.
  • Update for Microsoft OneNote 2016 (KB4484329): This update enables tenant admins to make temporary adjustments to different OneNote synchronization intervals via Group Policy settings. These adjustments will improve the overall performance of the application for users. For more information about deploying this update and adding Group Policy settings, see KB4549688.
  • Update for Microsoft Outlook 2016 (KB4484398): Fixes Japanese translations of Chinese holidays and a problem with blocked folders when saving attachments. It also fixes an issue that causes user-shared folders to disappear from their Favorites list when Outlook is started in an offline state. It also fixes a problem that causes Outlook to crash temporarily for some users.

Office 2013

  • Update for Microsoft Office 2013 (KB4484356): This update fixes an issue that prevents Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) projects that contain references to components that are located in a file path that contains double-byte character set (DBCS) characters or whose file name contains DBCS characters from loading.
