Windows 10: ISO refresh for December 2020 (1809 – 20H2)

[German]Microsoft has updated the ISO installation images for various Windows 10 versions to include the December 8, 2020 cumulative updates. The image files are available for download in Microsoft Visual Studio Subscription (MVS) – formerly MSDN Subscription.

The  colleagues from deskmodder.de have pointed out the refresh in this post. I checked my Visual Studio subscription and found the following image files, available for Windows 10 1809 to 20H2 (I did not find the '1609' specified at deskmodder, also a 1607 is not available as Dec-Refresh).

The ISOs have titles like 'Windows 10 (consumer editions) version 2004 (updated Dec 2020)' and show a release date of Dec 16, 2020. For the business editions, the following SKUs are included in the ISO:

Windows 10 Pro
Windows 10 Pro N
*Windows 10 Pro for Workstations
*Windows 10 Pro N for Workstations
Windows 10 Pro Education
Windows 10 Pro Education N
Windows 10 Education
Windows 10 Education N
Windows 10 Enterprise
Windows 10 Enterprise N

The following SKUs are included in the consumer version ISO:

Windows 10 Home

Windows 10 Core Single Language
Windows 10 Pro
Windows 10 Pro N
*Windows 10 Pro for Workstations
*Windows 10 Pro N for Workstations
Windows 10 Pro Education
Windows 10 Pro Education N
Windows 10 Education
Windows 10 Education N

The multi-edition consumer media requires a product key that is specific to the edition in the list that you want to activate. From the desktop, select Start > Settings > Update & Security > Activation. Select Change Product Key and enter your product key. If the key is valid, you will be prompted to confirm the edition change and Windows will run it for you. The ISO files contains the string updated_dec in its file name.

One Response to Windows 10: ISO refresh for December 2020 (1809 – 20H2)

  1. EP says:

do note that there are NO Dec 2020 "consumer" editions of the 1809 ISOs (only "business" edition of 1809 Dec 2020 ISOs from MSDN) because the Home/Pro editions of v1809 went out of support in November 2020

the KB4592440 update can only be applied/installed onto enterprise, education & LTSC 2019 editions of Win10 v1809 and will fail to install on home/pro 1809 editions with "we couldn't complete the updates – undoing changes" message
