iOS 16.1 and iPadOS 16 released

[German]As expected, Apple has released its iOS 16.1 for iPhones and iPadOS 16 for iPads on October 24, 2022. This means that compatible devices can be updated to iOS 16.x or its counterpart iPadOS 16.x. The release of iPadOS had been somewhat delayed (see Apple event on Sept. 7, 2022, iPhone 14 unveiling? iPadOS 16.1 comes after iOS 16).

Apple's release motes lists a big bunch of vulnerabilities as fixed in both updates. The updates should be offered over the air on qualified devices under Settings > General > Software Update. German blog reader Gerold wrote in this comment:

As announced, iOS 16.1 was released tonight.

If you want to install it you have to agree to new terms for iOS and Apple Media Services.

I'll write part of the text, it's in caps: "If you do not agree to the terms of this license agreement, do not use the iOS device or download the software update."

Then it goes on, I'll just write the short version: Anyone who has recently purchased an iOS device and does not agree with the terms of the license agreement can return the device according to Apple's return policy and get a refund.

Addendum: The download is pretty lame, "About 2 hours to go" is displayed here, that never happened until now.
