[German]Microsoft has introduced an extension to its LLM solution Copilot. Microsoft Copilot Pro is a subscription-based approach to rolling out LLM models to both home and business users, from small businesses to large enterprises, and earning money from these solutions. With the subscription solution, users should be able to access GPT-4 and GPT-4 Turbo even in times of high load, while users without a subscription will be served with GPT 3.5.

The announcement came to me overnight in the following tweet highlighting Copilot innovations. There's Copilot for small businesses, the aforementioned Copilot Pro, and other options that Microsoft describes on this page and in this blog post.
Microsoft Copilot for Microsoft 365
Microsoft Copilot for Microsoft 365 aims to combine the power of large language models (LLMs) with the company's data. The product works with Microsoft 365 applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams and others. According to Microsoft, Microsoft 365 Copilot offers intelligent support in real time and reportedly enables users to improve their creativity, productivity and skills.
Copilot for Microsoft 365 offers users the same priority access to the latest models (like Copilot Pro, see below). Copilot is available for Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote and Microsoft Teams and can combine data with Microsoft Graph. Microsoft promises "enterprise-grade data protection", meaning the product adopts existing Microsoft 365 security, privacy, identity and compliance policies.
And it includes Copilot Studio, so organizations can customize Copilot for Microsoft 365 and create their own custom Copilots and plugins, as well as manage and secure their customizations and standalone Copilots with the right access, data, user controls and analytics, Microsoft says.

Copilot Pro
According to Microsoft, Copilot Pro has basic functions in a single application that runs across all devices. The application is designed to understand context from the internet, on the running PC, in apps and soon also on phone calls, and then provide users with the "right capabilities" that are needed at the time. Copilot Pro is web-based, so it always has access to the latest information. When you sign in to Copilot with your Microsoft Entra ID, you get free commercial privacy, meaning chat data is not stored, Microsoft does not have access to it and your data is not used to train the models.
Copilot Pro offers priority access to the very latest models – starting with OpenAI's GPT-4 Turbo. Users will have access to GPT-4 Turbo during peak load times for faster performance. Users will also soon be able to switch between models to optimize their use of LLMs.
Microsoft 365 Personal and Family subscribers can use Copilot in Word, Excel (currently only in preview and in English), PowerPoint, Outlook and OneNote on PC and soon on Mac and iPad. It includes improved AI image creation with Designer (formerly Bing Image Creator) for faster and more detailed image quality and a landscape format.
Copilot Pro also offers users the ability to create their own Copilot GPT with the new Copilot GPT Builder (coming soon) – a pre-built Copilot tailored to a specific theme with just a simple set of presets.
The prices
All Copilot solutions presented by Microsoft in this blog post are based on subscription models. The following image shows an overview of the available subscriptions. In addition to the free Microsoft Copilot, individual users can book Copilot Pro for 20 US dollars per person per month. Copilot for Microsoft 365 is only available to companies at a price of 30 US dollars per user per month.
The monthly subscription offers all Copilot services plus the following features:
- Priority access to GPT-4 and GPT-4 Turbo even during peak times for more performance and faster processing of your tasks
- Access to Copilot in selected Microsoft 365 apps (see next section) to draft documents, summarize emails, create presentations and much more
- Generate AI images with DALL-E 3 in landscape mode now even faster with Designer (formerly Bing Image Creator) and 100 boosts per day
Copilot Pro services are currently available online and on Windows, macOS and iPadOS. The use of Copilot in selected applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote and Outlook, requires a Microsoft 365 Single or Family subscription. The Excel functions are currently only available in an English preview version. Microsoft 365 Single or Family and Copilot Pro are not available in the same transaction and must be purchased in two separate transactions.
Microsoft also describes the above approaches in the blog post Bringing the full power of Copilot to more people and businesses.
