Firefox 122.0

Firefox 122 is a new development branch which, according to the release notes, has a number of new features.

  • For example, Firefox displays images and descriptions for search suggestions if these are provided by the search engine.
  • The translation feature got an improvement in the quality of translated web pages. The results should be much more stable. This fixes problems where the content of a page could disappear during translation or interactive widgets could break.
  • Firefox now supports creating and using passkeys stored in the iCloud keychain on macOS.
  • MDN Web Docs article suggestions from Firefox Suggest will be available in the address bar for users searching for web development information.
  • Web content word wrap rules are now compliant with the Unicode standard. This improves the compatibility of web browsers for line wrapping. Another improvement for East and Southeast Asian end users: Firefox now supports correct language-dependent word selection when double-clicking on text for languages such as Chinese, Japanese, Burmese, Lao, Khmer and Thai.

Firefox 122.0 also comes with a new .deb package for Linux users on Ubuntu, Debian and Linux Mint. Several vulnerabilities rated as high have been closed in Firefox 122 (see here). Notes for Enterprise users can be found here. Firefox should update itself automatically, but can be downloaded from this website for various platforms (the variant can be selected via the list fields displayed).
