Windows[German]Microsoft has released the optional cumulative (preview) update KB5034204 for Windows 11 version 22H2 and 23H2 on January 23, 2024. The preview update brings a number of corrections for these Windows 11 versions. In Windows 11 23H2, for example, compliance with the European Digital Markets Act (DMA) is ensured.

Please note that this update is a so-called preview update. This is optional and must be initiated manually for download and installation by default (although Windows 11 22H2 contains options for automatic installation). Preview update KB5034204 fhas been released for Windows 11 version 22H2-23H2 and provides new features and fixes for this Windows version. Below is the list of highlights that this update.

This issue affects all Enhanced Security Admin Environment (ESAE), Hardened Forests (HF) or Privileged Access Management (PAM) deployments.
  • This update changes a setting in Active Directory Users & Computers. By default, the snap-in now uses a strong certificate mapping of X509IssuerSerialNumber. It does not use the weak mapping of x509IssuerSubject.

This long list of new features and fixes will be integrated into the security update for the following month. The preview update is optional and is offered if the user explicitly selects optional updates for installation on the settings page. If the option to install optional updates is activated, Windows 11 can also install the update automatically.

The update is offered via Windows Update, but can also be downloaded and installed from the Microsoft Update Catalog. The latest Servicing Stack Update (SSU) is integrated to fix various problems.
