Windows 11 24H2 will be shipped without Cortana and WordPad

Windows[German]Microsoft has begun to remove discontinued functions in Windows 11 24H2, which is expected in fall 2024. This operating system version will now definitely come without the WordPad program. The Cortana voice assistant will also be removed for good in this version of Windows 11.

These functions had already been discontinued at the end of 2023. I reported that the Cortana voice assistant will disappear "at the end of 2023" in the article Microsoft ends Cortana support "in late 2023" in Windows – AI is the new aim at the end of 2023. And since August 2023, Windows Insiders have been able to uninstall the voice assistant (see Cortana retirement is on the edge: Windows 11 Insiders can uninstall it).

Now I read in this article that Cortana is no longer included in Windows 11 24H2. The discontinued WordPad software (see Windows 11 24H2 kommt ohne Mixed Reality und WordPad) will also no longer be part of Windows 11 24H2.

This can be read in the article Releasing Windows 11, version 24H2 to the Release Preview Channel. There, the feature update Windows 11, version 24H2 (Build 26100.712) is made available in the Release Preview Channel for Insiders to test. For this version of Windows 11 24H2, which is scheduled to arrive in fall 2024, it says:

Please note that Cortana, Tips, and WordPad are removed after upgrading to Windows 11, version 24H2.These apps are deprecated.

In addition to Cortana and WordPad, Windows Tips, which nobody uses anyway, will also be removed from Windows 11.
