[German]Still using a Windows 10 machine? Microsoft urgently needs Windows 11 users, because there is a problem with the switch. In view of the end of support for Windows 10 22H2 in October 2025, Microsoft is extending the upgrade offer. Windows 10 22H2 machines that are compatible with Windows 11 will therefore also receive an upgrade offer.

Microsoft already decided on January 16, 2025 to open the floodgates for the feature upgrade of Windows 11 machines to version 24H2. This means that more users will suddenly be offered the feature update and their system will be upgraded to the new version. This opening applied to systems running Windows 11 that were upgraded to the aforementioned version 24H2.
Extension of upgrades to Windows 10
Microsoft has already updated its Release Health Status page for Windows 10 24H2 on January 21, 2025.
Microsoft declares that Windows 11 version 24H2 (the 2024 Update) is now generally available. Microsoft then writes that "Starting this week", the gradual rollout of this latest Windows version will be extended. The upgrade to Windows 11 24H2 will also be gradually offered to eligible devices running Windows 10 version 22H2.
If you have a suitable Windows 10 or Windows 11 device – i.e. it must be compatible but also upgrade-eligible – users can check whether the upgrade to Windows 11 24H2 is available.

To check, select Windows Update and then Check for updates on the Settings page. If the device is ready for the update, the option to download and install Windows 11, version 24H2, will be displayed.
However, inexperienced users are likely to experience unpleasant surprises during this changeover. If I go to the Known Issues section on the Windows 11 24H2 Release Health status page, a lot of entries still appear. Some of them are labeled "Mitigated", so there are workarounds. Windows 10 support end as a driver?
It's possible that the end of support for Windows 10 on October 14, 2025 will prompt some users to switch to Windows 11 24H2.
