Adaptec download site is dead – it's now Microchip

[German]Brief information for people who may still be looking for drivers and firmware from Adaptec. The download area is no longer available – thanks to the reader who contacted me about this. The downloads should now be available at Microchip.

Adaptec, Inc. was a computer memory company and is still a brand for computer memory products. The company was an independent company from 1981 until 2010, when it was acquired by PMC-Sierra, which in turn was later acquired by Microsemi, which in turn was later acquired by Microchip Technology.

Previously, firmware, software and drivers etc. could be downloaded at download.adaptec.com. Benjamin H. contacted me  by e-mail and wrote that the page in question has been "down" since February 18, 2025.

However, if you go to adaptec.com, you are redirected to storage.microsemi.com. The page matches the ownership structure outlined above. And in their support area there are various entries that links to support pages with downloads. Should actually be the old Adaptec download offer. But some German blog readers told me, that a couple of download links are still dead.
