[German]Do you use wall sockets or cameras from G-HOMA? I don't know if it affects any other readers, but the provider G-HOMA seems to shutting down and discontinuing support for its app for smart sockets, which will become useless as a result. A reader informed me some days ago, and I've also just seen that the G-HOMA store is no longer available either. Seems to be another case of home automation devices are becoming useless.

Who or what is G-HOMA?
I wasn't really familiar with G-HOMA when I received the reader's tip about the discontinued cloud service. I then did a quick search on the Internet and came across various pieces of information.
Der G-HOMA-Store is down
During my search on the Internet, I immediately came across the link to the provider G-HOMA. When I clicked on the link in question, I was taken to the G-HOMA store page, but it was reported as "down".
From what I found out, G-HOMA is a Chinese company that resides in Hong Kong. The Wayback Machine shows me that the home page has been gone since February 2025. Snapshots from 2024 show that doorbells, security cameras and smart sockets were sold on G-HOMA. I still found some offers from G-HOMA on German Amazon shop.

I therefore assume that a lot of people have purchased and use products from G-HOME.
Description on aptoide.com
I then searched further on the Internet and came across an explanation of what they do with their app and the cloud service at bei aptoide.com.
G-Homa probably offers an app for home automation and also provides security functions via its products such as security cameras. The app allows users to control electrical appliances connected to corresponding sockets via smartphones or tablets.
The app is available for the Android platform and should provide an efficient solution for managing household appliances that increases both convenience and security. Aptoid.com has a comprehensive description of the app function.
Reader reports discontinuation of services
Blog reader Enno informed me in a private message via X that G-HOMA was being discontinued. He wrote that he had received an email from G-HOMA stating that the cloud service for managing SmartHome sockets was being discontinued.
According to the reader, the products were sold via different online shops and DIY stores. The reader concludes that with the discontinuation of the app and/or cloud service, it is highly likely that the socket will no longer be usable for many users. This at least applies to remote operation via smartphone. The reader has sent me the following screenshot of the email, he got.
Due to "unforeseeable" circumstances, G-HOMA had to cease business operations. The letter states that the G-HOMA app has been removed from the Google Play Store. The current G-HOMEA app is also no longer compatible with Android 14 or higher – you would have to go back to devices with Android 12. The iOS app is still downloadable, but some functions no longer work. Looks like a "full crash" to me and people now have a lot of electronic waste if the app is no longer maintained. Is anyone affected? Does anyone have more details on what happened to G-HOMA?

Only use smart home products that have local API possibilities, that you can use without the vendors cloud services. Shelly is a good example.
Or use Zigbee or Zwave products that can be used with any hub or stick.
