[German]A quick update: a few hours ago, the Linux Mint maintainers released version 22.2 (Zara). Linux Mint 22.2 is a version with long-term support until 2029 and includes updated software packages, several refinements, and many new features.
Blog reader Sven pointed out this release of Mint 22.2 in this comment (thanks for that). Mint 22.2 is based on kernel 6.14, among other things. The the release notes can be found in this article on the Mint blog. There you will also find the download links and the article What's new in Linux Mint 22.2".
The release notes with known issues can be found here, the installation instructions are available here, and the ISO files can be downloaded here. Upgrade notes for Mint 22.2 are available here. Bolko adds the following note in this German comment: "To upgrade to Linux Mint 22.2, you need mint-upgrade-info 1.2.9. This version has been available on Github since September 2, 2025."
According to Bolko, the primary server is "Linux Mint" (packages.linuxmint.com) and has all packages first. The mirror servers are almost all much faster at distributing, but need a few days to download the packages from the primary server themselves.
Bolko notes: "If it is not yet automatically offered to someone, then the individually set local mirror server has not yet been synchronized. This mirror server can be changed manually in the update management under Edit, Package Sources, Official Package Sources. Mirror servers. Click on the mirror server to the right of "Main" and 'Base' and set a different mirror server in the list. For me, the automatic update worked yesterday with one of the faster German mirror servers."
In his German comment, Bolko also provides instructions on how to update the kernel when upgrading to Mint 22.2.
