Skype is rather popular – and since Microsoft is operating this service is even more on it's raise. Recently I reported that 40 % of international phone calls are handled via Skype. But for business users Skype should be a no go, if privacy and security is recommended. German Fraunhofer institute for embedded systems and communication technique (Fraunhofer ESK) put Skye at risk for business users.

Skype is popular, and a few day ago many sites reported that the Skype translator is included in Microsoft's desktop app (see). Also every Windows 10 user is getting a Skype app on its desktop. But a short search for "skype risk enterprise" reveals several older articles about security concerns for enterprise use (see here and this Gartner report from 2015).
Now Fraunhofer ESK put Skye definitely at risk for business users. A revised study Einsatz von Skype im Unternehmen.- Chancen, Risiken und Policy – Empfehlungen (currently only in German) discusses the technology, the Eula, Microsoft's support and also legal aspects. The conclusion made by Fraunhofer ESK is very clear:
The use of Skype isn't recommended due to security concerns! It is known that all skype communications are monitored from US NSA – also in Europe. Business critical information should not be exchanged via Skype.
