I didn't notice the update at all, but blog reader Andreas R. reported here that this update arrived on October 13, 2017.

KB4023057 is a reliability update that was rolled out on October 5, 2017 for Windows 10 version 1507 (RTM), version 1511 (November 2015) and version 1607 (Anniversary Update). However, only certain builds of Windows 10 versions 1507,1511 and 1607 require this update.

Microsoft probably determines which devices are affected by their telemetry data – but does not disclose any details. If such a device is identified, the update is automatically downloaded and installed via Windows Update. This update includes reliability improvements that affect the update components in Windows 10 Versions 1507, 1511, and 1607.

Yep, noticed that it was deployed yesterday on mine (1607) – yet again, as previous instance of this update has been applied on 29/09.

    spyware ? Nsaware ? microsoftOrwellWare etc …
anybody say anything and they do what they want on your computer without any control of your privacy.

10 or 20 years such prepotent company attitude would have rised scandalized protest… but now you "eat" everything

strange world, strange generation… "shut up generation", stupid generation that says ok to everything …. without any doubt… without trying to understand anything, just followers and "likers" lol

'and it doesn't borrow you that microsoft add things without explaining what ?'

Sorry, if you on that position, you simply may not use Windows nor any other product from Apple, Google ….

Well, I run here on some machines Linux – but also Open Source software tends to do nasty things – like Mozilla cooperating with havesting firms to analyze browser data.

Re-tinking this, lead me to the conclusion, that you need to refuse any technical device released within the last decade.

But overall: Your concerns are legit, and we need to find the path between 'doesn't matter' and 'conspiracy everywhere'. Here in Germany it will perhaps be a bit more easy as in the silicon valley / US, where the next hot shit will be invented today.
