A few hours ago Apple released iOS 11.4 for the general public on supported iOS devices. Support for AirPlay 2 is also included. And there is a new feature 'Massages on iCloud'.

Messages on iCloud
iOS 11.4 introduced 'Messages on iCloud', which allows all iMessage and SMS messages to be stored on Apple's servers. Apple wants to avoid full messaging of iOS devices – similar to what you already do with pictures. If the messages are needed, iOS gets them from the iCloud – provided you have a (fast) Internet connection. The second goal is to synchronize iMessage messages between devices.
Multiroom audio for iPhone/iPad
Multiroom Audio requires AirPlay 2 as streaming protocol, which can be retrofitted with iOS 11.4. This allows the user of an iPhone or iPad to stream music to different speakers. Some more information can be found at techcrunch, MSPU or at Apple.
