Google Chrome 75

[German]Google's developers have released the version 75.0.3770.80 of the Google Chrome browser on June 4, 2019. The new Chrome version contains improvements and security fixes.

Google Chrome 75.0.3770.80 is now available for Windows, Mac and Linux. The developers have announced the new version of the Chrome browser in the developer blog on this page. The update to the new version contains 42 security fixes. Here is the list of the most important fixes:

  • High CVE-2019-5828: Use after free in ServiceWorker
  • High CVE-2019-5829: Use after free in Download Manager
  • Medium CVE-2019-5830: Incorrectly credentialed requests in CORS
  • Medium CVE-2019-5831: Incorrect map processing in V8
  • Medium CVE-2019-5832: Incorrect CORS handling in XHR
  • Medium CVE-2019-5833: Inconsistent security UI placement
  • Medium CVE-2019-5834: URL spoof in Omnibox on iOS
  • Medium CVE-2019-5835: Out of bounds read in Swiftshader
  • Medium CVE-2019-5836: Heap buffer overflow in Angle
  • Medium CVE-2019-5837: Cross-origin resources size disclosure in Appcache
  • Low CVE-2019-5838: Overly permissive tab access in Extensions
  • Low CVE-2019-5839: Incorrect handling of certain code points in Blink
  • Low CVE-2019-5840: Popup blocker bypass

Google Chrome 75.0.3770.80 includes a number of new features, one of which is an experimental read mode flag that allows users to view web pages in simplified mode. This new flag is available for all desktop platforms (e.g. Windows, MacOS, Linux and Chrome OS), with the option disabled by default, but easily switchable by switching to chrome://flags/#enable-reader-mode. After that you can choose the command Distill page from the menu.

You can use Chrome's built-in updater to update to the latest version. Alternatively, you can download the new version directly from  google.com/chrome. The Enterprise version of this browser can be downloaded from this Google page.
