Windows 10 V1903: Nvidia GPU drops error 43 on Sandy Bridge systems

[German]If you run the Windows 10 May 2019 Update (Version 1903) on systems with Sandy Bridge CPUs and use an Nvidia graphics card, you might run into issues, especially during driver installation for the graphics card. Error code 43 is displayed in the Device Manager.

I have become aware of this problem through this article at German site administrator.de. Since the end of May 2019 Nvidia has published an article GPU may display Code 43 error in Device Manger on some Windows 10 May 2019 Update PCs with Intel Sandy Bridge class CPU, which deals with the problem. 

he Nvidia Graphics Unit (GPU) can drop the error code 43 in Device Manager on some systems with Windows 10 May 2019 Update if an Intel Sandy Bridge CPU is installed. The error occurs in Device Manager under the following conditions.

  • An NVIDIA GPU with a R400+ display driver is installed.
  • An Intel Sandy Bridge CPU is built into the system.

Nvidia has released Hotfix Driver version 430.97 to fix this problem. The GeForce Hotfix Driver version 430.97 is based on the latestGame Ready Driver 430.86 from Nvidia, as the company writes here. The GeForce Hotfix Driver version 430.97 addresses the following problem:

  • Forza Horizon 4: The game can crash while driving through tunnels. 
  • The error with code 43 is displayed when installing driver 430.64 under Windows 10 May 2019 Update System with Intel Sandy Bridge CPU.
