Sophos sold to investment firm Thoma Bravo

Short information for people using Sophos security solutions or Sandboxie. The private equity investment company Thoma Bravo will probably take over the security specialist. The info came out a week ago.

I got the information last week on administrator.de, but I'm only now getting the message posted here on the blog. A user of Sophos software has received the following notification in a newsletter.

The Sophos Board of Directors yesterday announced that private equity investment firm Thoma Bravo has made an offer to acquire Sophos. Subject to approval, the transaction is expected to close in the first quarter of 2020.

Meanwhile, blog reader Robert (thank you) has drawn my attention to this article on the subject. There it is reported that the investor from the USA offered 3.9 billion US $ for the (so far British) company. This is a good 37% above the current market value of Sophos.
