Nominated for European Cybersecurity Blogger Awards 2021

[German]Just a short note – the blogs here – especially my German language IT blog  has been nominated for the European Cybersecurity Blogger Awards 2021. I have now been informed that I have reached the finals – whether there will be an award, I don't know – I feel honored, but I'm also relaxed about it – we will wait and see.

European Cybersecurity Blogger Awards 2021

The European Cybersecurity Blogger Awards  is a campaign of a PR agency (Eskenzi PR) in London. It will take place for the eighth time in 2021 and is sponsored by Qualsys and KnowBe4. The (supposedly) best bloggers, vloggers, tweeters and podcasters in the security industry are selected by a jury. The finale, with the presentation of the awards, will take place on June 9, 2021 (starting at 18:00 UK time). The winners will probably be notified on June 10, 2021 – I don't think my chances are too high.

The organizers are providing awards in various categories, and there must have been around 120 nominees. In the past, participants have included Troy Hunt (runs the site Have I Been Pwned) or other well-known bloggers such as Graham Cluley (British security blogger), Carole Theriault (Sophos social media director) and Geoff White (British investigative journalist). Those who successfully get through the nomination process and make it to the finals are already in an illustrious circle.

Some time ago I was asked by an agency that provides me with security information from the major security vendors to submit my application to the European Blogger Awards for this year – otherwise they would nominate me.

To my shame, I have to confess that I had long forgotten about the nomination to the European Cybersecurity Blogger Awards – must have been March or April (I'm getting older, so I sometimes forget things that are not so important). Anyway, to my surprise, last Friday I received a short mail from the above mentioned PR agency with the message "You are in the finals …". (Saturday there was also a mail from the British organizer).

Had to search a bit on the website, but I was actually nominated twice, in the category "Most Educational Content" and in the second category "Best Personal Blogs". Also on Twitter Eskenzi PR announced it here and here.

This is probably another motivating factor (in addition to my my motto "blogger is the nicest job next to pope") not to pull the plug so soon (I'm in front of retirement since March 1, 2021, but decided to let it fade out over a couple of years, as long, as I have fun and success) and to keep going, no matter how the final of the award turns out.
