Microsofts Windows Thin PC: Support ends on October 12, 2021

Windows[German]Windows Thin PC, according to this post, a Windows 7-based PC with a smaller footprint. Introduced in 2011, it allows organizations to convert existing PCs as thin clients to reduce the need for new thin client hardware. In addition, this solution has been very lucrative license-wise with VDI.

That's because because these systems maintain existing SA coverage, enterprises don't need an additional Windows Virtual Desktop Access (VDA) license for Microsoft Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI). That enabled cost savings.

In this Techcommunity post Microsoft has reminded users on Sept. 1, 2021,  that support for Windows Thin PC will end on Oct. 12, 2021. Microsoft recommends that you consider switching to a newer remote desktop client. (via)
