[German]Internet Explorer 11 has long since been discontinued. But there are still "leftovers" in the affected Windows versions. Microsoft has informed in another post about the next steps to "get rid" of IE 11 now on the affected Windows systems step by step.

Review: IE has reached end of life…
It was long announced – Internet Explorer will be retired – I had explained in the blog post Internet Explorer Desktop App retires on June 15, 2022 in mid-March 2022, for which Windows versions Internet Explorer will be discontinued. February 2023 was the date where Microsoft "hit the switch" (see my blog post Reminder: Internet Explorer 11 will be retired on February 14, 2023). A security update for Windows 10 forced the redirection of all Internet Explorer 11 calls on the affected operating systems to Microsoft Chromium Edge.
However, it looks like the disabling still hasn't been done entirely – see the section in my blog post Edge ads on Chrome pages, disabling IE, Firefox dead after KB5022906?. But Microsoft has more steps planned to disable IE 11 on affected Windows 10/11 systems.
The optional, non-security "C" version, preview update is scheduled to remove visual references to IE11 for certain Windows 10 versions on May 23, 2023. No later than June 13, 2023, the planned Windows security update ("B" version) will remove all IE11 visual references, such as the IE11 icons in the Start menu and taskbar. Then IE 11 will be history in most Windows versions and its tasks will be taken over by Microsoft Edge. That was the status on IE 11 deactivation as it can be researched here on the blog.
Next steps: New information
In the Microsoft Message Center there is a new entry New details on IE11 desktop application next steps since May 18, 2023, in which Microsoft has published more information. Microsoft says:
Based on customer feedback, Internet Explorer 11 (IE11) visual references, such as the IE11 icons on the Start Menu and taskbar, will no longer be removed by Windows update as previously communicated. Organizations will continue to maintain control over determining the timing to remove IE11 visual references from their devices, if they have not already done so, by using the Disable IE policy.
Additionally, changes will be made over the next coming months to redirect a small subset of exceptional scenarios where IE11 is still accessible to Edge. This ensures users access a supported and more secure Microsoft browser. Details will be available in the Windows and Microsoft Edge release notes.
As a reminder, IE11 has been out of support since June 15, 2022, and was permanently disabled on February 14, 2023. These changes are intended to provide a better user experience and smoothly transition users from IE11 to Microsoft Edge to ensure a faster, more secure, and more modern web experience. What's new is that Microsoft will no longer remove visual references to Internet Explorer 11 (IE11), such as the IE11 icons in the Start menu and taskbar, through the Windows Update as previously announced. Feedback from customers prompted Microsoft to take this step. Administrators should still have control over when they remove IE11 visual references from their devices. To that end, there is a policy Disable IE policy.

Further, changes will be made in the coming months to redirect a small subset of exception scenarios where IE11 is still accessible to Edge. Microsoft has published the Internet Explorer 11 desktop app retirement FAQ for this purpose. Colleagues at Bleeping Computer have published the list of incompatible websites (contains 7,604 Internet domains, including those from Microsoft Teams, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Google Drive, etc.) here.
