VirtualBox 7.0.12 and 6.1.48 released

Virtualbox[German]As of October 17, 2023, the developers of Virtualbox have released both version 7.0.12 and the update to version 6.1.48. Both versions are maintenance updates to fix bugs, as you can read on the Virtualbox page.

VirtualBox 7.0.12

Neowin.net writes here about a fixed Windows blackscreen and more. According to the changelog, the version 7.0.12 update is supposed to fix the following bugs in previous Virtualbox releases.

VMM: Fixed using a debugger inside the guest under certain circumstances (bugs #21413 and #21546)
VMM: Fixed detection of VT-x being used by other hypervisors (bug #21867)
VMM: Introduced additional improvements in Split Lock Detection feature of recent Intel CPUs on Linux hosts (bug #20180)
GUI: Fixed issue when the nested hardware virtualization setting was not displayed in the VM details panel (bug #21707)
GUI: Introduced NLS update for Croatian, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Dutch and Turkish languages as well as added general look-and-feel improvements
Devices: Fixed black screen in Windows guests with multiple guest screens when 3D is disabled (7.0.10 regression)
Devices: Fixed PCI device identifiers for the VirtIO network interface (bug #21516)
Devices: Fixed VLAN support for the VirtIO network interface (bug #21778)
Devices: Fixed loading saved states when a TPM is configured (7.0.10 regression, bug #21773)
Networking: Fixed memory leaks in the VBoxIntNetSwitch process on macOS (bug #21752)

BIOS: Restored support for ISA SCSI HBAs in the BIOS (bug #21736)

The new version of the virtualization software can be downloaded for Windows, Mac OSX and Linux from this download page. It should be noted that an updated version of the VirtualBox Oracle VM VirtualBox Extension Pack must also be downloaded and installed. VirtualBox can be used freely, but there are special license conditions for the Extension Pack.

According to the changelog, the version 6.1.48 update should fix the following bugs in previous Virtualbox releases.

    VB 6.1.48 seems to work, but the extension pack 6.1.48 kills Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8.1 guests. I had to revert back to 6.1.46 (extension pack only) for Vista and Win 8.1. Windows 7 needs 6.1.44 or earlier extension pack.
    Windows 10, and Windows 11 are accepting extension pack 6.1.48.
    I have not attempted 6.1.48 on earlier versions of Windows.
