[German]A blog reader pointed me to an issue with the new Outlook app. The app could no longer create new calendar entries for his Gmail account. However, there is a workaround, and a new version with bug fixes should be available by now.

The new Outlook app
On August 1, 2024, Microsoft announced in this Techcommunity post that the new Outlook app for Windows is now available for commercial customers and receives full support from Microsoft (I found it here). And Microsoft had announced in the tech community post New Outlook for Windows now available that the new email app "Outlook for Windows" was generally available for private use.
The new Outlook for Windows will be available as an app for personal accounts via the Microsoft Store under Windows 11 and in Windows 11 24H2 (Windows Fall Update from September 26). The app is free for Windows users and supports various email accounts and calendars under one app interface. In the long term, the app is intended to replace the classic Outlook from Microsoft Office.
Since the app has been available, it has caused quite a bit of trouble (see links at the end of the article). In the blog posts Beware: New Outlook app transfers access data to Microsoft and New Outlook app: "Monitoring and surveillance tool for targeted advertising", I pointed out that users are loosing control.
New calendar entries cannot be created in the Outlook app
Blog reader Felix E. contacted us on November 12, 2024 and wrote that he had encountered a problem with the new Outlook app with a customer. The customer was no longer able to create new calendar entries via the new Outlook app.
The problem was that a G-Mail account (as the only account) was integrated in the new Outlook app. The customer then only received a rather unhelpful error message.

Other users reported that it was also no longer possible to delete events (see here, for example). The workaround from Microsoft was: "Add another account and set it as the primary account". The management of calendar entries is supposed to work in all other accounts.
During a search I found several threads at Microsoft in the forums (for example this Microsoft Answers forum post), some of these threads covered several pages (like here).
As of November 14, 2024, a Microsoft moderator posted in this Microsoft Answers forum thread and wrote that the above bug has been fixed by an update. Those affected must obtain the latest version 1.2024.1107.100 of New Outlook from the Microsoft Store. Calendar entries should then be editable and createable again. Was anyone affected and has the bug really been fixed?
