[German]Internet providers and their systems are the focus of hackers. The Russian internet provider Nodex, which is based in St. Petersburg, also found this out when it fell victim to a cyber attack (presumably from Ukraine). Data was extracted from the systems and the servers were completely deleted.

A few hours ago, I came across a report by a cyber security expert from Ukraine who published some details. The following post shows the internet traffic to AS29329 from Nodex, which suddenly drops to zero.
The post notes that the Russian internet provider Nodex in St. Petersburg was completely "plundered and wiped out". The data was exfiltrated and the data carriers were then deleted. The provider was left with empty devices without backups.
The provider confirmed: "Last night [probably January 6 or 7, 2025] an attack was carried out on our infrastructure (presumably from Ukraine). The network was destroyed. We are restoring it from backups. There are no timetables or forecasts at the moment. Our priority is to restore telephony and the call center first."

Meanwhile, metrics confirm that the connectivity of the Russian internet provider Nodex has collapsed. The incident also affects landline and mobile services, and had not been resolved hours ago. It shows how vulnerable our technical infrastructure has become and what happens when companies become the focus of an attacker.
