[German]Microsoft updated its MS365 apps to build 18324.20194 at the end of January 2025. I have received user reports that since the upgrade to this build, Microsoft OneNote no longer starts on Windows Terminal Server (under Windows Server 2016).

Microsoft 365 update to 18324.20194
If I interpreted the entries in the Microsoft 365 version history correctly, the Current Channel was updated to version 2412 (build 18324.20194) on January 16, 2025. In addition to security vulnerabilities, Microsoft also claims to have fixed a bug in which apps were terminated unexpectedly when running on Windows Server 2016.
OneNote problem on WTS
German blog reader Andreas B. has reported on January 29, 2025 in this comment to the blog post Microsoft korrigiert Absturzproblem bei Microsoft 365 (Office) Apps (16.1.2025), in which I had discussed the fixed app crashes. And now Andreas complains about new problems with Microsoft OneNote
In his environment, Microsoft 365 runs in a Windows Terminal Server (WTS) environment based on Windows Server 2016. Microsoft 365 version 2412 (build 18324.20194) was installed on 29.01.2025. The app crash error mentioned in the blog post above did not occur.
But with version 18324.20194, Microsoft OneNote no longer starts. Something is broken in the build, because the OneNote call returns the following error message:
The procedure entry point "WerRegisterAdditionalProcess" has been deleted in the DLL "C:\ Program Files (x86)\
Microsoft Office\ root\ Office16\ 0NENOTE.EXE" was not found.
For Andreas it looks as if no improvement has been made with the new build. Could be an individual problem, but blog reader Matthias F. replied to the comment and confirmed that he has also been experiencing the problem "recently on both WTS (2016)".

Other reports in the Internet
While searching for the error message, I came across the hit shown in the screenshot below on reddit.com. The text viewed sounds exactly like the error message above.
However, the post in the mega thread about Windows seems to have been deleted in the meantime. However, there is a thread Onenote cannot be started from January 24, 2025 in the Microsoft Answers forum, where the person concerned writes that he runs into a problem when starting MS365 Apps for Enterprise (16.0.18324.20194). The Onenote software, which is installed on Windows Server 2016, throws the error when called:
The procedure entry point WhoRegisterAdditionalProcess could not be found in the Dynamic Link Library C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\root\Office16\ONENOTE.EXE.
There, the user writes that the application no longer seems to work after a recent upgrade to the latest available version of the 365 product application. One user wrote that going back to version 2411 (build 18227.20162) from December 2024 fixed the problem.
At this point, I would like to point out that Microsoft will probably end support for OneNote in October 2025 (see also) – whether they will change much about the application is open to me.
