Outlook Classic: Microsoft fixes drag & drop bug

[German]Microsoft has published a support article stating that a bug in the drag & drop functionality of Outlook Classic has been fixed. The bug crept in via the January 2025 update and probably occurred under Windows 11 24H2.

I don't remember seeing any reader reports about this. But Microsoft writes in the support article Unable to drag and drop emails to folders in classic Outlook, that there have been issues.

After installing the Windows 11 24H2 preview update KB5050094from January 2025 and subsequent updates such as KB5051987 from February 2025, the drag & drop bug could occur on systems with Windows 11 version 24H2. Users were then unable to drag and drop emails or calendar items into folders in classic Outlook.

Microsoft Outlook-Problem

Microsoft had already documented this a week ago. This problem was fixed with the update KB5052093 for Windows 11 version 24H2, dated February 25, 2025 (Windows 10/11: Preview Updates Feb. 2025).

Microsoft has also provided a workaround if the preview update cannot yet be installed. To do this, simply deactivate the Outlook setting "Optimize for compatibility" via the File tab and the Options command. On the General tab, under User interface options, select the Optimize for best appearance option.
