CoPilot offered in Microsoft 365 and personalized Windows offers

Windows[German]Microsoft seems to be working again on making its users (un)happy with unsolicited special offers. A German blog reader sent me a screenshot in which he was offered to set up Windows for personalized offers. And another German blog reader has been surprised that Microsoft CoPilot is suddenly being installed on his system as part of Microsoft 365.

Windows wants to make personalized offers

MVP colleague Christian Wenz from Arrabiata Solutions contacted me a few days ago via a private message on Facebook. He had restarted his Windows 11 24H2 "again" on February 13, 2025 and was then greeted by the following treat in the form of a full screen.

Windows: Personalisierte AngeboteQuery in Windows; Click to zoom

In a windows with the title "Get personal offers from Windows", the operating system prompted the user to select one of the two options and then confirm by clicking the Accept button. With the Yes option, the user agrees to Windows using information about how the user uses the device.

This information is combined with user account data and data collected by other products. In other words, it asks whether the user of a "personal computer" wants to make themselves transparent to Windows (and Microsoft). As a treat, Windows is promised to "improve the user experience" through personalized tips, ads and recommendations that are displayed.

Christian remarked: "I think this is new, and I'll say this, I'm not surprised anymore. Maybe you'll get it from other places too …" I haven't received any of these messages from readers yet, but I'm no longer surprised at what Microsoft is displaying.

Do you want CoPilot? No? Ok, you got it

German blog reader Tobias recently wrote the following post on BlueSky and documented another "special experience".

Windows CoPilot-Meldung

He started five computers with Windows 10 Enterprise on February 18, 2025. And a welcome message for the Microsoft 365 Copilot app popped up on one of the devices. It advertises the AI solution for increasing productivity. Has anyone else seen a message like this in Windows 10 Enterprise environments?
