I came across the change to X via the following tweet. Microsoft has documented the change in the Techcommunity article Why Windows Autopatch is the smart update solution.

Windows Autopatch

Windows Autopatch is intended to unite Microsoft's update tools in a single solution for organizations and companies of all sizes. Microsoft describes it as an intelligent cloud service that automates software updates. Windows Autopatch is designed to make the update process secure, seamless and productive.

  • Windows Autopatch now offers the same services as the former Windows Update for Business deployment service and is the only Windows Update management feature in Microsoft Intune.
  • Windows Autopatch has been enhanced to provide full Windows Update management for Windows Education and Business Premium subscriptions; something you've been asking for a lot. (Government is next on the list; we just need a little more time).
  • Windows Update for Business has been renamed to "Windows Update client policies" and is still free for all organizations.

Windows Autopatch is available for organizations with Windows volume licensing (including Microsoft CSP licensing). Further details on Windows Autopatch can be found in the linked Techcommunity article.
