Windows 10: Updates KB5057589, KB5055674, KB5056474, KB5055769, KB5055768, KB5055770

Windows[German]An addendum from April 8, 2025: Microsoft also released various updates for the Windows RE environment for Windows 10 on this date. Further updates for Windows 10 make improvements to the Windows Setup binaries or all files used by Setup for feature updates in Windows 10.

Here is the list of relevant updates released by Microsoft for Windows 10 21H2 and 22H2 as of April 8, 2025.

  • KB5057589: Windows Recovery Environment update for Windows 10, version 21H2 and 22H2
  • KB5055674: Safe OS Dynamic Update for Windows 10, version 21H2 and 22H2
  • KB5056474: Setup Dynamic Update for Windows 10, version 21H2 and 22H2
  • KB5055769: Safe OS Dynamic Update for Windows 10, version 1809 and Windows Server 2019
  • KB5055768: Safe OS Dynamic Update for Windows 10, version 1607 and Windows Server 2016
  • KB5055770: Safe OS Dynamic Update for Windows 10 (1507, RTM)

Update KB5057589 and error 0x80070643

It should be noted that the Windows Recovery Environment Update is not offered if the Win RE partition does not have enough free space. In addition, Microsoft published the support article The April 2025 Windows RE update might show as unsuccessful in Windows Update on April 11, 2025, which deals with the installation error:

0x80070643 – ERROR_INSTALL_FAILURE

According to Microsoft, this error message is incorrect and has no impact on the update or device functionality. Microsoft developers are working on a solution and will provide more information as soon as it is available.

This error occurs when the device installs the WinRE update while another update is in a pending reboot. Although the error message indicates that the update has not been completed, the WinRE update is usually applied successfully after the device restarts. Windows Update may show the update as failed until the next daily check. At this point, the update is no longer offered and the error message is automatically deleted.
