Windows 10/11: Preview Updates June 2025

Windows[German]Microsoft has released optional, cumulative (preview) updates for Windows on June 24, 2025. There is currently only one preview update KB5058481 for Windows 10 22H2. These updates contain corrections that can be tested and are then generally rolled out as fixes in the following month.

Please note that preview or preview updates must be initiated manually for download and installation by default (although Windows 11 from version 22H2 contains options for automatic installation).

Preview update for Windows 11 24H2

The list of updates for Windows 11 can be viewed on this Microsoft page. The preview update KB5060829

or Windows 11 version 24H2 was released on June 26, 2025. Microsoft refers to the improvements and corrections as highlights and a gradual rollout (not available for all users) and a normal rollout (for all users).

In the gradual rollout, for example, there are minor adjustments for EU users in the settings in order to be able to specify additional file types for the standard browser. As part of the normal rollout, bug fixes will be rolled out in Copilot and other components. Details can be found in the support article.

Preview update KB5058502 for Windows 11 22H2 – 23H2

The list of updates for Windows 11 23H2 can be viewed on this Microsoft page. For Windows 11 version 23H2 and 22H2, the preview update KB5060826 was released on June 26, 2025. The gradual rollout and the normal rollout will provide the same fixes and new features as Windows 11 24H2. Details can be found in the support article.

Windows 10 Preview Update KB5061087

Information on the Windows 10 updates can be found on the Windows 10 update history page. The KB5061087 update rolls out a whole series of corrections.

[Mobile Operator Profiles]

  • Updated: Country and Operator Settings Asset (COSA) profiles.

[App Platforms and Frameworks]

  • Fixed: An issue affecting Component Object Model (COM) functionality on Windows platforms. Remote COM activations were failing with error 0x8001011.
  • Updated: The version of the curl tool included in Windows is updated to v8.13.0.

[Authentication Platform]

[Input and Composition]

  • Fixed: An issue affecting the complete removal of unused language packs and Feature on Demand (FOD) packages. This issue led to unnecessary storage use and increased Windows update installation time.

[Print and Peripherals]

  • Fixed: An issue affecting USB-connected Multi-Function printers with dual protocol interfaces. Scanning failed and prevented using the built-in scanning functionality in the operating system.

[Start Menu]

  • Fixed: An issue causing jump lists to disappear from the Start Menu.
  • Fixed: An issue where the Start Menu was not starting after installing an update.

[WinSaS]

  • Fixed: Settings > System > About incorrectly shows version 2009 instead of version 22H2.
  • Change of behavior: To maintain DMA compliance in the European Economic Area (EEA), when a new default browser is set, it is automatically pinned to the Taskbar and Start menu.
  • Change of behavior: Associates HTTP and .pdf file types when setting default browser.

[Servicing]

  • Fixed: An issue where Kiosk devices using the ForceAutoLogon configuration and Shift Override might stop responding with a blue screen after being locked and unlocked by support administrators.

[File Server]

  • Fixed: An issue where the system may stop responding when acknowledging an Oplock break request on resources located on SMB shares.

The update is offered via Windows Update (when searching for optional updates), but can also be downloaded and installed from the Microsoft Update Catalog. The latest Servicing Stack Update (SSU) is integrated to fix various problems. Further details, e.g. on the installation requirements, can be found in the support article in case of doubt.
