[German]Short addendum from this week: Ingram Micro had to admit after technical problems a few days ago that business operations were affected by a ransomware infection. I had noticed it, but didn't realize that Ingram Micro also offers IT components in Germany and is relevant for many IT employees.
Technical disruption – caused by ransomware
Anyone currently trying to access the European or German Ingram Micro website will only be notified of an error or maintenance work.

The colleagues at Bleeping Computer had already reported on the global outage of the company's websites on July 4, 2025.
Ingram Micro confirms ransomware infection
Since June 5, 2025, the company's US website has provided clarification, stating that it had suffered a cyber incident.

The link reveals that Ingram Micro Holding Corporation, or Ingram Micro for short, recently discovered ransomware on some of its internal systems.
Immediately after becoming aware of the problem, the company took steps to secure the affected environment, it says. This included proactively shutting down certain systems and implementing other mitigation measures.
The company also launched an investigation with the assistance of leading cybersecurity experts and notified law enforcement authorities. Ingram Micro is currently working diligently to restore the affected systems so that orders can be processed and shipped.
I had read the information that Ingram Micro was affected by the SafePay ransomware at Bleeping Computer, but didn't realize that it could also affect readers of this blog. I have since been contacted by two readers about the outage and have briefly posted the article here on the blog.
Sources have told BleepingComputer that the threat actors are believed to have infiltrated via Ingram Micro's GlobalProtect VPN platform. According to Bleeping Computer, employees at some locations have been instructed to work from home. However, employees have been instructed not to use the company's GlobalProtect VPN access, which is said to be affected by the IT outage.
Bleeping Computer writes that the company's AI-powered Xvantage sales platform and Impulse license delivery platform are affected. Other internal services such as Microsoft 365, Teams and SharePoint will continue to function as usual.
