Microsoft released the Preview Update KB5079391 for Windows 11 24H2–25H2 on March 25, 2026. They continue to work on fixes and improvements for various components (including a fix for the ERROR_BAD_PATHNAME update error) and update the AI bloatware. Symptom: Some devices might encounter the following error while installing this update:"Some update files are missing or have problems. We'll try to download the update again later. Error code: (0x80073712)"
Workaround
To prevent additional impact while the issue is investigated, Microsoft has temporarily limited the availability of this update. As a result, the update temporarily might not be offered through Windows Update.
