Firefox 114.0 and 102.12.0 esr released

Mozilla[German]Mozilla's developers have released the versions 114.0 and 102.12.0 ESR of the Firefox browser on June 6, 2023. The ESR versions are maintenance updates that are supposed to fix bugs. Firefox 114 is a new development branch. In both updates, vulnerabilities are fixed. Thanks to the reader for the tip.

Firefox 114.0

Firefox 114 is a new development branch that brings the following new features according to the release notes.

  • Added UI for managing the exception list for DNS over HTTPS.
  • Bookmarks can now be searched via the bookmarks menu. The Bookmarks menu is accessible from the Bookmarks button on the toolbar.
  • Limit the search to your local browsing history by selecting Find History from the History, Library, or Application menu buttons.
  • Mac users can now capture video from their cameras in all supported native resolutions. This allows for resolutions greater than 1280×720.
  • It is now possible to rearrange the extensions listed in the Extensions panel.
  • MacOS, Linux and Windows 7 users can now use FIDO2 / WebAuthn authenticators over USB. Some advanced features, such as completely passwordless logins, require a PIN to be set on the authenticator.
  • Pocket Recommended content can now be viewed in France, Italy, and Spain.

As a change, it is noted that DNS over HTTPS settings are now part of the Privacy and Security section on the Settings page, allowing the user to choose from all supported modes. Firefox 102.12.0 ESR

Also the versions 102.12.0 with long-term support (ESR) was released and closes vulnerabilities. Firefox should update itself automatically in all versions, but can be downloaded from this website for various platforms (the variant is to be selected via the displayed list boxes).
