[German]A German blog reader contacted me a few hours ago because he noticed an extreme amount of spam from certain Microsoft outlook.com email accounts to his Microsoft Office office.com email account. After publishing the German edition of this blog post, other German readers confirmed this observation.
Note and question from a reader
Blog reader René S. has a mailbox at office.com, which he probably uses for his e-mail traffic. Yesterday he contacted me because the mailbox has become more or less unusable.
The blog reader wrote to me overnight and reported that he was suffering from an "unprecedented wave of spam". The SPAM mails come from various outlook.com accounts. There are a few hundred mails a day that go to the reader's address. The mails always have very similar content and arrive almost every minute.
The reader asks: Is there any known reason for this? I am about to block Office.com completely for the time being. I had already documented a similar case in the article Outlook.com inboxes flooded with SPAM (Feb. 20, 2023). And in October 2022 there was also a similar case, see my German blog post Unschön: Spam-Welle von outlook.com – und keine Reaktion (Okt. 2022).
Additional information from the reader
The blog reader subsequently sent me an example and the following information. The emails come in every minute from hundreds if not thousands of different outlook.com accounts.

And it really is sent via outlook.com, the servers are correct and so is the DKIM signature.

It is always a PDF with various pornographic images attached to the mail. I checked the PDF via Virustotal, and no scanner was successful. On the iPhone it is displayed directly to the reader, on the PC he has not yet opened the mail as a precaution, he writes.

The reader has been receiving these e-mails at a rate of 1000 per day for about a week. If this does not stop by the end of the week, the reader will probably have no choice but to block outlook.com completely.
