[German]Users of Windows 10 22H2 must be prepared to be annoyed by various prompts soon. Firstly, there is the full-screen notification that support will end in October 2025. And there is probably a request to finally switch from a local account to a Microsoft account. According to my information, these two annoying notices will be unleashed on users in the future.

Announcing the end of support
Microsoft Windows 10 22H2 will reach the end of regular support on October 14, 2025, i.e. the operating system will receive security updates for the last time by default. There is still around 1.5 years to go until this date and there are probably alternatives for getting security updates after this date. But Microsoft already seems to be starting to alert people to the end of support.
Nag screen indicates end of support
On my notebook with Windows 10 22H2, I occasionally receive a message on the Windows Update page that the device is compatible with Windows 11 and that I can please switch. So far, I've always been able to refuse because I don't want to use Windows 11. But Microsoft has never shied away from ways and means of harassing Windows users with annoying pop-ups and screens.
It has already been picked up by various media – a user on reddit.com reports that he was interrupted while working by the full-screen display shown in the screenshot above. There, Microsoft thanks its "loyal Windows 10 customer" and informs the baffled user that the end of support for Windows 10 is approaching. Unfortunately, the computer is not suitable for upgrading to Windows 11. Of course, Windows 10 will still receive bug fixes and security updates until the end of support, which is October 14, 2025. The customer is then offered buttons to call up information on why they should switch to a Windows 11 computer and what the end of support means.
Buttons such as Learn more can be used to call up another information page and Remind me later can be used to hide the window so that it can be displayed again at a later time. At least there is a close button in the top right-hand corner of the page to return to the Windows 10 desktop.

No ESU mentioned
Apart from the fact that there are still 1.5 years until the end of support for Windows 10 22H2, it's a bit of a mess to put a full page on the desktop and prevent people from working – but that's just how Microsoft works. Incidentally, there is also no reference to the Extended Security Update Program (ESU) on the page displayed. Private users and corporate customers can use ESU to extend support for Windows 10 by up to 3 years. Although this is subject to a charge, it allows you to continue using your systems for quite some time. Request to switch to Microsoft account?
neowin.net has taken up the topic in this article: The latest Windows 10 Release Preview update for Windows Insiders produces build 19045.4353. There are hardly any changes, except that Microsoft is now probably testing new banners in the settings page. There you will find the request to switch from local accounts to Microsoft accounts. Microsoft writes in the release notes for the Insider Preview:
New! This update starts the rolls out of account-related notifications for Microsoft accounts in Settings > Home. A Microsoft account connects Windows to your Microsoft apps. The account also backs up all your data and helps you to manage your subscriptions. You can also add extra security steps to keep you from being locked out of your account. This feature displays notifications across the Start menu and Settings. You can manage your Settings notifications in Settings > Privacy & security > General.
And what's in the Insider Preview builds is tested there with users in stages and then possibly rolled out in the final. So there could be a surprise in this regard with a regular update.

Many older domestic users of Windows will lose their access to the internet and other vital functions because they cannot cope with Microsoft's enforcing of unnecessary changes. When is the EU going to protect them?
Chris, I'm with you on that. I would like to see EU-like consumer protections take effect in the United States.
Perhaps someone should inform Microsoft's CEO Satya Nadella that just because Moore's Law has been stated does not necessarily mean it must be enforced verbatim.
