[German]Microsoft has also marked a known bug that caused Dirac Audio issues in Windows 11 24H2 as fixed as of September 12, 2025. The support article from December 2024 describing the issue of Dirac Audio losing audio output when using cridspapo.dll has been updated. And the upgrade stop for Windows 11 24H2 has been lifted.
Windows 11 24H2: Dirac Audio issues
In December 2024, Microsoft acknowledged a serious problem with Windows 11 24H2 systems that use Dirac Audio output. Dirac Audio is a digital sound enhancement technology that improves the clarity and precision of audio.
These systems lose audio output after installing Windows 11 24H2. Users reported that their device's built-in speakers, Bluetooth speakers, and Bluetooth headsets no longer work. Specifically, the problem appears to be caused by the cridspapo.dll file, which is not compatible with Windows 11 24H2. The cridspapo.dll file is part of the audio processing software on these devices.
Microsoft had stopped the rollout of Windows 11 24H2 on affected machines. I first reported on this in December 2024 in the article Windows 11 24H2: Auto HDR and Dirac Audio issues. In February 2025, there was a brief note that Microsoft had updated the support article (see Windows 11 24H2: Game issue with Auto HDR fixed; Dirac audio bug updated), but without details of what had been changed.
Dirac Audio bug fixed
On September 12, 2025, Microsoft marked the post Some devices that have Dirac Audio with cridspapo.dll might lose audio output as "resolved" in the Known Issues section of the Windows 11 24H2 Release Health Dashboard (via). The article confirms that after installing Windows 11 version 24H2, there were some user reports that the built-in speakers, Bluetooth speakers, and Bluetooth headsets on their devices no longer worked when Dirac Audio was used. Both first-party and third-party applications were unable to recognize these devices.
According to Microsoft, a new version of the driver (file cridspapo.dll) has now been made available via Windows Update to fix this issue. Microsoft therefore recommends that Windows 11 users (should be 23H2) install the latest security update for their device. In addition to important improvements and bug fixes, the Dirac Auto bug will also be fixed.
Microsoft has therefore lifted the upgrade block for Windows 11 24H2 as of September 11, 2025. Eligible devices without other security blocks should now be able to install Windows 11 version 24H2 via the Windows Update release channel. The 48 hours that may be required for this to take effect should have passed. Restarting the system may help to speed up the availability of the fix.
