Windows 7: Optional Update KB2952664

Update KB2952664 (Compatibility update for upgrading Windows 7) is optional. This update performs diagnostics on the Windows systems that participate in the Windows Customer Experience Improvement Program. The aim of this update: These diagnostics data helps determine whether compatibility issues may be encountered when the latest Windows operating (Windows 10) system is installed. This update will help Microsoft and its partners ensure compatibility for customers who want to install the latest Windows operating system.

Windows 8.1: Optional Update KB2976978

Update KB2976978 (Compatibility update for Windows 8.1 and Windows 8) is also optional and it is available for Windows 8.1 Enterprise, Windows 8.1, Windows 8.1 Pro, Windows 8 Enterprise, Windows 8, and Windows 8 Pro via Windows Update. This update performs also diagnostics on the Windows systems that participate in the Windows Customer Experience Improvement Program (see previous paragraph).
