TripMode reduces mobile data transfer in Windows 10/Mac OS

Mobile hotspots can be a lifesaver when you're traveling and don't have access to Wi-Fi. Unfortunately, OneDrive, Windows and Office365 updates and other apps can silently drain your data plan in minutes. Mac OS apps show the same behavior. TripMode, a small tool, automatically reduces your mobile data consumption when you use a mobile hotspot.

TripMode is a simple Windows and Mac OS app that blocks all apps from accessing the Internet through mobile hotspot. Only the ones that you've allowed can get through. It discreetly activates itself when detecting a hotspot, so you don't have to worry about it anymore. Tripmode can do the following:

  • Block unwanted traffic: Only apps that you've selected are allowed to access the Internet when TripMode is ON. The rest is blocked.
  • Save data automatically: TripMode activates itself on networks where you used it before. No need to fiddle in menus. It's super easy.
  • Track your data usage: See how much data was used per app and per session, day, or month. Spot the data hungry apps.

Further details may be found on the vendor's site. TripMode is available for $7.99 (and offers business plans) as a web download on www.tripmode.ch. A trial version is also available.
