Google just supports a few of his Pixel and Nexus devices with security updates (the biggest weakness in Android). The announcement of the security updates and a list of supported devices is made on this web site. There are two security update packages:
- 2017-08-01: Partial security patch level string. This security patch level string indicates that all issues associated with 2017-08-01 (and all previous security patch level strings) are addressed.
- 2017-08-05: Complete security patch level string. This security patch level string indicates that all issues associated with 2017-08-01 and 2017-08-05 (and all previous security patch level strings) are addressed.
Only the 2017-08-05 packet contains all security fixes. Within the list of fixes, Google named a couple of really critical vulnerabilities, that has been closed in Android 4.4.4 up to Android 7.1.2 (for instance, there has been closed vulnerabilities within Media framework).
And there is a open question: Will Google announce today (August 8, 2017) Android O?
