The patch will be distributed via Windows Update (according to MS Power User). The firmware update is available for Surface Pro (2017), including the LTE version. It consists of the following packages:
- Surface System Aggregator Firmware – Firmware -234.2110.770.0 resolves potential security vulnerabilities, including Microsoft security advisory 180002.
- Surface System Aggregator Firmware – Firmware -234.2110.1.0 improves battery reliability.
Installing this update requires Surface System Aggregator Firmware v233.2102.1.0 already installed. The changelog for the Surface Pro (2017) w/o LTE says:
- Surface UEFI – Firmware – 233.2110.770.0 resolves potential security vulnerabilities, including Microsoft security advisory 180002.
- Surface System Aggregator Firmware – Firmware – 233.2111.256.0 improves battery reliability.
In addition to optimizing battery life, the security problem ADV180002 (speculative execution side-channel vulnerabilities, i.e. Spectre v2) on Microsoft Edge should also have been mitigated. The Firmware update is detailled at this Microsoft page.
