Google made a big mistake: The Google Nest Secure alarm system contains a microphone that was never mentioned within the specs or within Googles product sites.

Google Nest Secure is an alarm system consisting of several components for use in home environments. On February 4, 2019, Google announced that Nest Secure could be supported by Google Assistant via a firmware update. This Google Assistant can be operated by voice (so an alarm could be switched off by voice command).

After that announcement, some people expresst their amazement, because the specifications and product descriptions of Google Nest Secure never mentioned a microphone in the Nest Guard component.
If @Google's @Nest Secure devices really had secret microphones that they hid from consumers, those consumers should probably be forgiven if they don't trust the company's after-the-fact promises that it never spied on them. #DontBeEvil https://t.co/sZsFC31zdV via @csoonline

A Google spokesperson confirmed to Busines Insider that a mistake had been made. The on-device microphone was never meant to be a secret and should be listed in the technical data. That was a mistake on our part', said the speaker.
