Firefox 78.0.2 and 78.0.2 esr released

Mozilla[German]Mozilla's developers have released the version 78.0.2 of the Firefox browser, as well as the 78.0.2 esr, as of July 9, 2020, which are maintenance updates that fix both vulnerabilities and bugs.

In the comments, German blog reader clorya pointed out that the version 78.0.2 and 78.0.2esr had been released. 

Firefox 78.0.2

The release notes for version 78.0.2 state that this version should fix the following bugs.

  • Fixed an accessibility regression in reader mode (bug 1650922)
  • Made the address bar more resilient to data corruption in the user profile (bug 1649981)
  • Fixed a regression opening certain external applications (bug 1650162)

In addition, a vulnerability reported by Frederik Braun and classified as moderate has been closed from the previous version.

Using object or embed tags, it was possible to frame other websites, even if they disallowed framing using the X-Frame-Options header. Note: This issue is pending a CVE assignment and will be updated when one is available.

Firefox 78.0.2 esr

There was also an update of Firefox 78.0.2 esr with one year long term support with the same bug fixes and eliminated vulnerabilities.
